(1) What is a Word Processor
Answer :- The word processing performs the work of creating new and attractive documents with the help of some softwares/ programs called as Word Processor.
(2) Write the name of some Word Processing Software
Answer:- Word Perfect, Word Pad, Note pad, MS – Word etc are the windows based Word Processing Software.
(3) How to start the MS Word?

Answer:- File menu, Quick Access Toolbar, Title Bar, Tabs Ribbons, Dialog Box Launcher, Ruler, Text Area, Vertical and Horizontal Scroll Bars, Status Bar, Document Views, Zoom Slider are the different parts of MS Word Window.
(5) Define the Text Area.
Answer :- Work Area / Text Area is the rectangular area of the document window in MSWord, where user can type his/her content.
(Q4) Long Answer Type Questions :-
(1) Explain the Special features of MS Word?
Ans :- Following are the special features of MS Word are :-
(a) In MS Word, the user can add text anywhere in the document.
(b) If any words/characters are by mistakenly typed wrong, then we can erase them. We can erase the drawn line or pages, or inserted picture or shapes as we manually cross them out on the paper.
(c) We can move the selected part of the text from one place in a document to any other location by making use of Cut – Paste commands/options. We can also make a duplicate copy of the original selected part of the text within the document.
(d) Word also provides the facilities of setting the page size, margins etc and as per the setting/changes made, the word automatically changes the text and fits the text into the adjusted size, margins.
(e) We can also search any character or word instantly that is within the document and the founded words or characters can be replaced with the other one.
(f) In the documents, we can change the fonts such as bold, italic, underline etc and we can change its size too.
(g) We can insert graphs into the document.
(h) We can also insert headers and footers at the top and bottom of every pages in a document. The word processor will automatically check the page numbers so that the correct numbers appear each page.
(i) We can check the spellings of any word and then correct them. The wrong word gets highlighted.
(2) Explain Document View in MS Word
Answer :- The different views to display a document are as follows
(i) Print Layout view:- This will display the document in simple manner as it will look after giving print command. It is by default view option in Writer. The pages in the document can be shown one by one, side by side or in book style manner. You can select the icon on the status bar to switch from one sub view to another sub view. You can also magnify the layout with the help of Zoom slider shown on Status Bar. By dragging the cursor towards +sign (increases the zoom in size) whereas dragging towards – sign (reduces the zoom out).
(ii) Web layout view:- As compared to Print layout, there will be no existence of margin, bold and italic effect, justification in Web layout view Zoom and view layout are disabled. But for zooming document we can make use of the zoom slider that’s available in the layout view.
(iii) Full screen view:- The bars such as Title Bar, Menu Bar and Status Bar are not available when the document is viewed in Full screen mode. The document or page is been shown in a full screen. If you want, you can make the rulers visible, by enabling the option on. You can exit the full screen mode by pressing ESC key or you can press a key combination of CTRL+SHIFT+J.
(iv) Outline :- In this view the outline part of the document is shown.
(v) Draft view :- In this view, the document is shown in the drafted mode/version but without making use of graphics. To view the zoom and layout dialog box, you can choose View tab and select Zoom option from the Menu bar.
(3) How to Create and Save a New document in MS Word.
Answer:- The steps to Create and Save a New document in MS Word are as followed :-
(1) Steps to Create a New Document
a) Click on the File Menu (bar) of the MS-Word window you may come across the option as New Document (make a click on it) ——— Blank Document ——- Click on Ok button.
OR
(b) Once the MS-Word window is opened, the user needs to press the Ctrl + N keys together from the keyboard.
(2) Steps to Save the Document
(a) Click on the File Menu (bar) of the MS-Word window, you may come across the option as Save As option ———— Save As dialog box appears
————– Now select and click on the location in the computer where you wish to save a file ——— type your desired file name ———- click on Save button that is at the bottom of the Save As dialog box.
Note :- In every program we may come across the two options in the Menu bar such as Save and Save As. So lets understand the difference between this two terms and their uses :-
The difference between the Save and Save As option is as followed :-
(i) Save option:- By making use of this option, the user can save the changes made to the file/ document after saving the file/document process is over.
(ii) Save as option:- With the help of this options we can save the newly created file/document for first time by applying our name to it.
OR
(b) Press Ctrl + S key from the keyboard together for saving a file in MS-Word.
