Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE)
The state board for secondary and higher secondary education in Maharashtra was established in 1965. The board has worked with great commitment to improve and promote secondary and higher secondary education in Maharashtra. MSBSHSE was then amended in 1977 under the “Act No 41 of 1965”. MSBSHSE has nine divisional boards which are located at Pune, Mumbai, Nasik, Ratnagiri, Kolhapur, Aurangabad, Amravati, Latur and Nagpur. The board is responsible for conducting the examinations of Higher Secondary Certificate and Senior Secondary Certificate for Classes 10th and 12th respectively. The official languages for MSBSHSE are English and Marathi. The headquarters for the same are in Pune, Maharashtra.
Responsibilities of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education
The MSBSHSE has many responsibilities on its shoulders like granting recognition to schools by affiliating them to the state board and conducting the examinations for Class 10th, the HSC, Higher Secondary Certificate Examination and the exams for 12th, SSC Senior Secondary Certificate and also other state level examinations. Other than that, the board is responsible for cooperating and coordinating with the state government, and to function hand in hand for financial aids and supervision of the divisional boards. The board is also responsible for preparing detailed syllabus, for approving and sanctioning textbooks for the academic years and to introduce awards, scholarships and medals to motivate the students and boost their confidence.
Syllabus and Time Table
MSBSHSE is very much responsible for preparing the syllabus from Class 6th to 12th. The syllabus prepared by them is used in the preparation of the textbook, which has elaborated concepts, and is used by the teachers in the classrooms. The board is also responsible for preparing the date sheet or the time table for examinations like HSC and SSC and other state level examinations.
