(1) How many panes are available in Windows Explorer? Write their names?
Answer:- Windows Explorer has two panes. These are Left and Right panes
(2) Write the name of different parts of Window Explorer?
Answer:- Title bar, Back and Forward buttons and a Recent Location Menu button, Address bar, search box, Menu bar, Tool bar, Status bar are the names of the different parts of Windows Explorer.
(3) Define File and Folder?
Answer:- (a) File :- A file can stated as the collection of important information that is stored in a binary method and is stored on the storage devices like hard disk, pen drives etc. This information can be accessed later as per the requirement. A particular name is given to a file for its identification. Every file has a primary name and extension name i.e is separated by (.) period or full stop sign. Primary name is given by the user for its data file whereas Extension name is given by the application, program itself in which the file is being made. For ex :- My file (Primary name i.e is given by the user) . (period or full stop sign) docx (extension name, here the MS Word program is used to create a file).
(b) Folder :- Folder is always Yellow in color. It is also called as Directories. In computer system Folders are made used to store and organise the files. A folder may contains many files or folders and the folder that is inside (within) the other folder is to be termed as Sub – folder. We can rename the folder, we can move the folder from one place to another.

(1) What is Windows Explorer? Give different ways to open window explorer.
Answer:- This is the very important application in the operating system. The another name for windows explorer is file explorer. What ever the files and folders are been stored in our computer, we can view it with its help. It can be use for searching the contents, disks , folders and libraries. It is mostly sued for opening, copying, moving, deleting, renaming etc the folders. It provides the Graphical interface in navigating the hard disk or any other media that is been connected to the computer. It also provides help in showing the contents that is present in the sub folders or folders and used to organizing and managing files and folders on the hard disk properly. The different ways to open window are as follows:-
(a) Press Windows Key + E button together

(c) Press Windows key ———— Type Explorer in Search box and then Press Enter.
OR

2) Explain different views of Windows Explorer ?
Ans-
(a) Small, medium, large and extra-large icons view :- In this view the items are been displayed in one or more rows containing each item with its icon and name
(b) Tiles Icons view :- In this view the items are been displayed in one or more rows containing each item with its icon and name along with its other information.
(c) List Icons view :- In this view, the items are displayed in one or more columns where each item consists of name with small just to its left.
(d) Details Icons view :- The items are viewed in the rows of a table. The first column contains a name, together with a small icon, and other column containing various properties such as size and date modified.
(e) Contents Icons view :- In this view, the items are being displayed in the column wise. Every item in the column contains icon, name and some other properties. This view is by default for searches.
(3) What are the options to customize the Desktop in Windows Explorer.
Answer:- There are three options to customize the Desktop in Windows Explorer which are as follows:-
(a)Themes :- A theme is a collection of pictures, colors and sounds in our computer system. Desktop border, color scheme, a screen saver, a window border etc is a part of the theme. There may be some kinds of themes available which contains icons and mouse pointers.
(b) Desktop Background :- From the name Desktop background we can come to a conclusion that it’s the wallpaper. A wallpaper is nothing much but it’s a picture or background pattern against which menus, icons, or other elements are displayed and moved around. A wallpaper can be in the JPEG or GIF file format. In Microsoft Windows, you may see the presence of Wallpapers commonly. Every operating system provides the facilities of pre installed wallpapers images from where the user can select/choose his own. They also provide the freedom of changing the wallpaper by the user as per his choice or likings too.
(c) Screen saver :- When the computer is not in use, then such type of software program gets activated and that too for a specific period of time. This program consists of animated images. This program was designed from getting protected of older monitors having phosphorus coating from being burnt.
(4) How can we Copy items using ‘send to’ option?
Answer:- With the help of ‘Send to’ option one can copy one or more than one item into the number of locations and programs. The steps for doing it so are as follows:-
(a) The items we want to copy first we need to select them.
(b) Make a right click on the selected item and open the sub-menu as Send to. After that select the appropriate place where you want to copy the item. The following destined places you see in the send to sub menu which are by default.
- Compressed (zipped) folder
- Desktop (create shortcut)
- Documents library
- Fax and mail recipients
- Devices with removable storage, for example :- USB, memory sticks
(5) Write about Screen Saver.
