He shunned all forms of violence and became a strict vegetarian. Later he preached the principles of Buddhism for rest of his life.

Ans. Ashoka began to spread the teachings of Buddha after becoming a devout Buddhist. According to him, high ideal could lead the people to live peacefully and co-exist in a harmonious environment and these ideals lead one to a higher level of living, if followed correctly. These became known as the Dhamma of Ashoka.
