Answer = 825 m is yet to be cleaned.
3.) Babhulgaon used 21,250 litres of treated waste water in the fields. Samvatsar used 31,350 litres of similar water. How much treated waste water was used in all?
Bhabulgaon used 21,250l of treated water.
Samvatsar used 31,350l of treated water.
So, in total they used

Answer = 52,600 litres of treated waste water was used.
4.) If half a litre of milk costs 22 rupees,
how much will 7 litres cost?
1 litres of milk costs 22 rupees
So, 7 litres will cost = (7×22) = 154 rupees
Answer = 7 litres of milk will cost 154 rupees.
5.) If the speed of a motorcycle is 40 km per hour, how far will it travel in an hour and a quarter ?
The speed of motor cycle is 40 km per hour.
So, the bike can travel 40 km in one hour,
First let us calculate how far the bike can go in one quarter of an hour = (40×1/4) = 10 km
So, from the question we know the bike can travel 40 km in one hour and we have calculated that the bike can travel 10 km in a hour.
So the bike will travel in one hour and a quarter, (40+10) km = 50km.
6.) If a man walks at a speed of 4 kmph, how long will it take him to walk 3 km?
The man walks at a speed of 4 kmph,
So, we know he walk 4 km in 1 hour
1 hour = 60 minutes
he walks 4 km in = 60 minutes
so he walks 1 km in = (60÷4) = 15 minutes
so to walk 3 km he will need = (3×15) = 45 minutes or three quarter of an hour.
7.) If a rickshaw travels at a speed of 30 kmph, how far will it travel in three quarters of an hour?
The rickshaw can travel 30 km in an hour.
1 hour = 60 minutes
rickshaw takes 60 minutes to travel 30 km
so, in 1 minute it will travel = 30/60 = ½ km
So, the rickshaw travels in three quarter of an hour or 45 minutes = (45×1/2) = 22.5 km
8.) During Cleanliness Week, children cleaned the public park in their town. They collected three quarter kilograms
of plastic bags and five and a half kilograms of other garbage. How much garbage did they collect in all ?
Children collected plastic bags = three quarter kilograms or ¾ or 0.75 kilograms
They collected other garbage = 5.5 kilograms
So in total they collected,
Kg | g | |
1 | ||
5 | . | 50 |
+0 | . | 75 |
6 | . | 25 |
Answer = they collected a total of 6.25 kg of garbage.
9.) If one shirt needs 2 m 50 cm of cloth, how much cloth do we need for 5 shirts ?
1 shirt needs 2m 50 cm of cloth.
1 m = 100 cm
2 m = 200 cm
So, 2 m 50 cm = (200+50) = 250 cm
So, 5 shirts will need,
2 |
250
×5 |
1250 |
So, 5 shirt will need = 1250 cm or 12 m 50 cm of cloth.
10.) If a car travels 60 km in an hour, how far will it travel in
(1) 2 hours ?
(2) 15 minutes ?
(3) half an hour ?
(4) three and a half hours?
The car can travel 60 km in one hour.
1 hour = 60 minutes
So the car travels per minute = (60÷60) = 1 km
(1) 2 hour = 60×2 = 120 minutes
So, the car will travel in 2 hour = 120×1 = 120 km
(2) the car will travel in 15 minutes = 15×1 = 15 km
(3) half an hour = 30 minutes
The car will travel in 30 minutes = 30×1 = 30 km
(4) three hour = 3×60 = 180 minutes
So, three and half hour = 180+30 = 210 minutes
So, the car will travel = 210×1 = 210 km
11.) If one gold bangle is made from 12 grams 250 milligrams of gold, how much gold will be needed to make 8 such bangles ? (1000 mg = 1 g)
One gold bangle is made from = 12 grams 250 miligrams
1 g = 1000 mg
12 g = 12000 mg
12 g 250 mg = 12000+250 = 12250 mg
So 8 bangles will need,
12250 ×8 |
98000 |
The 8 bangles will need 98000 mg or 98 grams of gold.
12.) How many pouches of 20 g cloves each can be made from 1 kg 240 g of cloves ?
I pouch of cloves = 20 g
Total amount of cloves = 1 kg 240 g
1 kg = 1000 g
1 kg 240 g = 1000+240 = 1240 g
So 20g pouches can be made,
13.) Seema’s mother bought 2m 70cm of cloth for a kurta and 2 m 40 cm for a shirt. How much cloth did she buy in all?
Seema’s mother bought cloth for kurta = 2m 70 cm
She bought cloth for shirt = 2 m 40 cm
So total amount of cloth she bought
