Ans. There is no atmosphere on the moon. It has craters, mountains and plains with huge dust. The moon has very less gravity, one-sixth that of the earth. There is no water, so life is not possible on the Moon.

(g) Why do we see different appearance of the moon everyday?

Ans. This is because the moon reflects the light of the sun and the Moon orbits the earth, different parts of the moon get light from the sun and hence we see different shapes of the moon everyday.

(h) What is an eclipse? Differentiate between solar eclipse and lunar eclipse.

Ans. An eclipse takes place when one heavenly body such as a moon or planet moves into the shadow of another heavenly body. There are two types of eclipses on Earth: an eclipse of the moon and an eclipse of the sun.

Difference between Lunar Eclipse and Solar Eclipse are:
