Answer. The eldest stepsister went to her room to try on the shoe, and her mother stood by. But she could not get her big toe into it, for the shoe was too small. Then, her mother handed her a knife and said to cut the toe off, for when she would be a queen, she would never have to go on foot. So, the girl cut off her toe, squeezed her foot into the shoe. She concealed her pain and went down to the prince. The other sister went into her room to try the shoe and got her toes comfortably in but her heel was too large. Then her mother handed her the knife and said to cut a piece off her heel; when she would be the queen she would never have to go on foot. She was made to do heavy work from morning to night for all household works including cooking, cleaning etc. in evening, she used to become tired due to hard work. She had no bed to lie upon so she had to rest on the hearth among the cinders. She always looked dusty and dirty for sleeping in the cinders. When her sisters got invitation to a ball the by prince they were very delighted. They dressed well and got ready to go to the ball but they did not take Cinderella there. She begged her stepmother but she also turned back with her daughters. She became very sad and started crying. She thought about her own mother who would send her to the ball if she was with her.

They could not know about her going to the ball. When the prince came with the left glass shoe to find the right lady in their house her stepsisters tried hard to fit in that shoes. But they failed. Once upon a time there lived a lovely princess with fair skin and blue eyes. She was so fair that she was named snow white. Her mother died when snow white was a baby and her father married again. This queen was very pretty but she was very cruel also. The wicked stepmother wanted to be the most beautiful lady in the kingdom and she would often ask her magic mirror, ‘mirror! Mirror on the wall! Who is the fairest of all.’ And the magic mirror would say, ‘you are, your majesty!’ but one day, the mirror replied, “snow white is the fairest of them all!’ the wicked queen was very angry. ‘How fair a lady is snow white!’ she became jealous of snow white and ordered her huntsman to take snow white to the forest and kill her. ‘I want you to bring back her heart,” she ordered. But when the huntsman reached the forest with snow white, he took pity on her and set her free. He killed a deer and took its heart to the wicked queen and told her that he had killed snow white. Snow white wandered in the forest all night, crying.
