Tales of Bhola Grandpa Summary: Tales of Bhola Grandpa is a short story written by ‘Manoj Das’. The speaker starts the story by telling that Bhola Grandpa lived at the western end of his village with his wife. The hut of Bhola Grandpa was covered by a large bokal tree, and small troop of monkeys lived on that tree.
The speaker tells us about various funny and forgetful incident of Bhola Grandpa. He starts with an incident when Bhola Grandpa returning from a festival and started to cry aloud. Everyone was surprised and asked the reason behind his loud cry. Bhola Grandpa told that he had taken his grandson to the festival but he did not realize when his grandson slipped from his hand and was lost. The speaker’s father asked two men to search for the little child. Soon the grandson was found taking a cosy shelter under a cow’s belly. This tells us how forgetful Bhola Grandpa was.
Another incident is related to speaker’s father. Bhola Grandpa very happily and excitedly told the speaker’s father and friends about a gang of pirates, who had buried a large bon under a sand dune on the seashore by their village. They all started searching for the hidden treasure only to realize that there was no real treasure but it was only a dream Bhola Grandpa had during his nap.
Next incident is about having a great adventure in the sundarbans. One evening when Bhola Grandpa was returning from weekly market, he heard the growl of a Royal Bengal Tiger and found the gaze of tiger on his face. Bhola Grandpa was scared and he climbed on a banyan tree. The tiger kept circling the tree waiting for Bhola Grandpa to come down. Bhola Grandpa spent the entire night in the tree. When it was morning, Bhola Grandpa came down and walk fast the tiger who was stretching its limbs and yawning. Bhola Grandpa saw a man and requested him to give some water. The man was surprised and asked Bhola Grandpa, the secret behind walking fast the hungry tiger. Bhola Grandpa suddenly remembered about the tiger and looked at it. He lost all his senses out of fear and ran back home. Finally Bhola Grandpa died at the age of 95 and his wife said he might has forgotten to breathe.
The story tells us about a man who is funny and adventurous. The story highlights his forgetful and amusing experiences.
