Mild the Mist Upon the Hill Summary: ‘Mild the mist upon the hill’ by Emily Jane Bronte is a poem where poet remembers her youth and childhood days. It is a poem of imagination and a longing to return to young days. The poet remembers about her past.
In the first stanza the poet describes a peaceful image for the reader. The poet describes about landscapes. The poet says that the mist tells that there will be no storm and rain tomorrow. It has rained the entire day and hence the day has no more sorrow to give out.
In the second stanza the poet is transported back to her childhood days. The poet describes father’s roof as sheltering because she fells protected there. Her father has protected her from all hardship and give care and peaceful childhood. The poet also remember herself standing near the old hall door feeling safe.
In the third stanza the poet again comes back to present and watches the cloudy evening. She watched how the blue mist has surrounded the mountains.
In the fourth stanza the poet describe dew drops on the grass a morning tears. This rain drops seems to her as tears. The smell in the air after the rain agains takes her soul to her childhood hence it has been described as dreamy.
