Law of conservation of Mass

Antoine Lavoisier gave the first law of chemical combination That is law of conservation of mass in 1789.

“The law of conservation of mass means that in chemical reactions the total mass of
products is equal to the total mass of the reactant . There is no change of mass during the chemical reactions.”

Antoine Lavoisier state that “Mass can neither be created nor be destroyed.”

Chemical reactions occur everywhere from your body to sun. When two or more substance chemically combine to form entirely different products.

Example:

For example If we prepared pancake then we need ingredients that is 150 gm flour, two
whole eggs that is 150gm 650 gm milk , 50 gm sugar, the total mass of the ingredient is 1kg and after prepared pancake then we took weight the pancake, pancake also a 1kg.

So, we conclude that the weight or mass of the ingredient or reactant is equal to pancake that is product.

• When sodium hydroxide react with hydrochloric acid to give new products that is
common salt ( sodium chloride) and water.
