There are 29 species of Ibis found in Europe, Africa, North America, Western India, etc.
In India, Black-headed Ibis, Glossy Ibis and Red-naped Ibis are spotted.

Ibis are long birds spotted in Wetlands, Forests, Plains and Tropical Coastal areas.
They have long, curved Beaks, which is their peculiar identity. The Beak is used for probing (poking) into mud or a wetland and grasping the Crustaceans, Insects, small reptiles, frogs, fishes, etc, to feed on them.
Ibis probe and eat pests on agricultural fields that avoid pest infestation on Farmlands.
Ibis birds are also witnessed eating carrion (flesh of dead animal). Hence it is a Scavenging Bird.
They appear in groups when in flight. The flight of Ibises is a ‘V-shaped formation of wings and 2-20 birds can be seen flying together.
They have long legs and toes to walk on the Wetlands.
Breeding
Ibis bird reaches sexual maturity at 4-5 years of their age.
Both males and females incubate guard nests for 21-33 days. The number of Eggs is usually 2.
The chicks are fed by both males and females, and they fledge after 28-35 days.
Life span and Threats-
The life span of Ibis is up to 20 years in the wild. Although the Ibis bird population is under threat due to Poaching, Insecticides on Farmlands and Habitat Destruction.
