Central Education ministers of India
Literacy rate was minimum in earlier days before independence and after independence. The literacy rate was increased from 12% to 75% in recent years with major contribution of education ministers. Education system has been improved in the entire India with time by effective initiatives and views of leaders to bring change in education system. In order to provide quality education and raise the literacy rate of the country education ministers worked tirelessly since national education policy was released on 26 September, 1985. India got the ministry of education after independence with the main focus on improving conventional education. The Rajiv Gandhi government transformed ministry of education into ministry of human resource development which later turned into ministry of education again with the official announcement of newly drafted national education policy 2020. Our present Prime Minister Narendra Modi has brought national education policy again with ministry of education.
Ministry of education consists of two parts now namely department of school education and literacy, department of higher education. Department of school education monitors school education system of primary, secondary and higher secondary level along with adult education and literacy of India. This department deals with higher education, post higher education, university education, technical education, scholarships and so on. It is the responsible department to grant university status to educational institutes as per university grants commission of section 3 of UGC act.
The list of education ministers’ names is equally important for competitive exam as education is the major part of it. Education ministers played significant roles in shaping the education culture and platform within the country. The literacy rate has been increased with constant hard work, spreading awareness, encouraging citizens for the benefits of education and many other insightful initiatives. First education minister of India was Moulana Abdul Kalam Azad who showed the path of spreading education within country. Since then other education ministers followed the same path including their own views for developing education. The implementation of ‘National Education Policy 2020’ is going on by our present education minister Dharmendra Pradhan for making India as an education hub. Students must follow all the education ministers with their serving period.
