Autumn Summary
Autumn Summary: ‘Autumn’ is a poem written by John Clare. The poet describes the season autumn by falling leaves, bare branches and strong winds.
In the first stanza, the poet shows his love for the wind that blows in the autumn season throughout the day taking all the faded leaves from the mossy elm-tree. Because of the wind the leaves twirls and settles near the window pane and thousand of other leaves also come along the lane due to the strong winds of the autumn.
In the second stanza, poet describes how the twig dances till the evening, shaken by strong winds of the autumn season. The poet spots the sparrow sitting on the roof of the cottage singing happily and telling everyone that spring has just flirted by summer’s lap.
In the third stanza, the poets loves to see the smoke coming from the cottage curl upwards through the bare trees. He talks about November days which is dull. On this dull days the pigeons move around its nest and the cock crows on a hill of animal manure. The poet also describes about the mill which is constantly moving through the fields.
In the last stanza, the poet falls about the fallen feather of the raven’s breast. The feathers fell on grass covered land. He describes that it’s in autumn the fruit acorn falls from the trees near crow’s nest and makes some sound. The pigs grunt and wait for everyone so that they can grab those fallen fruits.
The poem gives us a view of autumn season. It glorifies the autumn season.
