We ask questions to know some information about any topic. Interrogative sentence is formed with wh words or auxiliary verbs to ask such questions. But there is another part for asking questions which is question tag. A question tag is formed with simple statement and added by a short question. Question tag is mostly used in spoken English to confirm any statement or encourage listener more in answering. In written English, question tags can be found in dialogue writing or stories where dialogue is a part of it. Students will learn more from its formation and examples.
We add question tag at the end of a statement to check if the statement is correct or confirm it. Question tag is added at the end of a statement to ask someone if he/she agrees with it. it is a short clause added to the end of statement which turns the statement into a question. We can see both a statement and a question within a sentence contained question tag. The sentence of statement begins with capital letter, then a comma is placed after it and question tag followed by question mark. The pronoun used as subject in statement will be used in a question tag too. When the statement is positive, question tag will be negative. If the statement is negative then question tag will be positive. In imperative sentence, verb ‘will’ is used to form both positive and negative sentence in question tag.
