Gander is masculine gender and male goose while the Feminine Gender of gander is goose. Male and female goose can easily be identified by the color and size. Male goose has thinner and longer neck compared to female goose. The another way is their call, that is the noise they make, easily we can distinguish the male and female goose. The male goose (gander) has slower – high pitch honk while female goose makes lower pitch and faster than the gander. The undercarriage for the female goose hangs lower than the male goose which can be easily seen. But this one is only done by professional and experienced people which claws might hurt during this process, they need to handle very carefully. In gander the white position can be seen while in female goose no such white pointed things is seen. A baby goose is called gosling. There are variety of species of goose and the number eggs lays by goose depends on the specie. Within 24 hours after birth gosling can leave their nest. Goose rarely sleeps in nest.
They live and sleep on land and water. Goose eats plants, seeds, nuts, berries, grass and few of them eats aquatic animals insects so goose is called omnivores. The maturity period is about 32 to 35 weeks. The average life span of goose is 15 to 20 years. Goose mostly stay near fresh water, lakes or ponds and are found in Europe, North America and Asia. The group of goose is called gaggle, they came together to form a large group to stay safe. Geese are heavy birds but still fly using their powerful wings. But the baby goose that is gosling cannot fly until they cross 3 months of age. There are various species of goose like Canada goose, Greylag goose , snow goose , swan goose, Brant , Emperor goose, Bean goose, Ross’s goose, pink-footed goose etc. Emperor goose is considered the most beautiful goose in the world. In India the goose species mostly found are White geese and gray Chinese geese.
