i.) Inamgaon was an important Rigvedic site. Archaeologists have found seeds of wheat, barley, rice, pulses, millets, peas and sesame in this area which shows that the people of this area were mostly farmers. They were also engaged in hunting and fishing. They also reared cattles.
ii.) The Rigvedic people were living mostly a settled life. They reared various animals like cattle, buffalo, goat, sheep, dog, horse, ass, pig etc. They were engaged in hunting also and knew animals like sambhar, spotted deer, blackbuck, antelope, hare, and mongoose, different birds, crocodile, turtle, crab and fish.

i.) The Rigveda was the oldest of the Vedas. It was written around 3500 years ago. It consists over a thousand hymns in Vedic Sanskrit. These hymns called ‘Sukta’ — “well said’ which were composed in praise of various gods and goddesses, mainly: Agni, Indra and Soma. These hymns were composed by sages and priests who made their students memorise every word. Some of the hymns were in the form of dialogues. Finally, these hymns were printed about 200 years ago. Rigveda has prayers for cattle, children, especially sons and horses. The Rigveda also mentions about the different groups of people and their professions.

ii) During Rigvedic time, the whole wealth was not controlled by few people but distributed amongst everyone in the tribe. Wars were fought for land and water mostly. A certain amount wealth that was obtained from the war was kept by the leaders of the tribes, some portion was given to the priests and the rest was distributed amongst the people. Some wealth was used for the performance of yajnas meant for gods and goddesses.
