Archaeologists have found evidences of fire altars, storehouses and many seals and sealings were found in this city. It was an important centre for making stone, shell and metal objects, semi- precious stones were also found here.
ii.) Faience is an artificially made. A particular type of gum was used to shape sand or powdered quartz into a solid object. The objects were then glazed into a shiny, glassy surface. The Faience were mostly blue or sea green in colour and was used to make beads, bangles, earrings and tiny vessels.
iii.) The Harappan people reared different animals like sheep, goats, buffalo, and cattle for various purposes. They needed the animals for milk, meat, skin etc. Some animals like bulls and horses were used for ploughing fields, for carrying loads. Some animals like dogs accompanied them for hunting and were used for guarding also.

Q5 Long Answer Type Questions: –
i.) The Harappan civilization suddenly started to end around 3900 years ago. People stopped living in many cities, writing, seals and weights became ‘extinct’. Import of raw materials stopped. The well -developed cities were turning dirty, the drainage system was broken. Some scholars consider the drying of rivers as an important reason for the end of the civilization. Some believed that extensive deforestation, severe floods destroyed cities and destroyed the cities. The depletion of minerals, green pastures for animals also are the cause of end of many cities. Some scholars also believe the rulers might also have lost control and as a result, people abandoned the areas and settled in newer places in the east and south. Archaeologists have found such evidences from the sites of Sind and Punjab.
ii.) The city of Dholavira was located on Khadir Beyt (also spelt as Bet) in the Rann of Kutch, where there was fresh water and fertile soil. The city was divided into three parts, and each part was surrounded by very big stone walls, entrances to the wall were allowed only through gateways. There was also a large open area where public ceremonies were held. An unique large letters of the Harappan script were carved out of white stone and wood was found here which was very different from small-sized seals.
