Someone who is a citizen of Bhubaneswar trusts blindly in The Town School for their child’s education. In present days a disturbing issue had arisen which has bring wrinkles on the forehead of the school authority as well as the well-wishers of the school. Few notorious students consistently bullying animals within the school premises. They are kicking, throwing stones even firecrackers to those dogs and cats deliberately to derive pleasure. However, these acts have created adverse psychological effect on those animals. Sometimes they stop eating; sometimes they become aggressive without any valid reason.
These acts and changes in animal behavior have not been adverted the attention of the students who are animal lovers. They have already taken this matter up to the school authority.
They have also created posters and circulated petitions, urging their fellow students to join them in standing up against animal cruelty. Nisha, a student of class 9 is leading the protest alongside her three friends Mohan, Deepak and Rajiv.
They collected evidences like photos and videos that have been posted in social media Facebook and Youtube. One of their videos uplodad by them has received 22K view within few hours of uploading. That also drew the attention of local media houses. One of the local media house directly covered the entire story by reaching the school campus on the very next day. General people and the local administrations had also been involved.
The bullies were isolated as the Nisha led gang’s operations gathered momentum. With the understanding of their activities, the majority of students disassociated themselves with the offenders. In addition to facing criticism from their peers, the school administration also scrutinized the bullies more closely.
As the news spread, two more NGO related to Animal Welfare also visited the school campus. They have also taken injured animals along with them for treatment. Given shelters to the permanent impaired animals.
The gang’s efforts didn’t end with here. They organized regular patrols around the school grounds, keeping a watchful eye for any signs of animal cruelty. They also set up feeding stations for the stray dogs and cats. They showed a path how our community should care for the animals.
Through the united protest of Nisha, Mohan, Deepak & Rajiv they had not only put an end to the animal bullying within the Town School but also infused a culture of compassion that would endure long after their time there. Their story became an inspiration for future generations.
