Ans: Pre-history is the period for which we have no written records whereas history is the period of time for which we have every details of it in recorded form.
(2) Name the works which are included in the Vedic Literature.
Ans: The Vedic Literature consisted of Dharmasastras, Arthasastra, Ramayana, Mahabharata.
(3) How do the inscriptions help us to know about history?
Ans: The inscriptions include various important information engraved on them by the famous ancient rulers for the common people. Many inscriptions carried various important achievements, dates of victory and invasions, cost of land, purchase or sale of donation etc.
(4) What is meant by the archaeological source of history?
Ans: Archaeological sources of history involves old buildings, pottery, daily use things, coins, inscriptions etc achieved by digging at the site of ancient cities.
(5) Write a short note on literacy sources of history.
Ans: The Literary source of history include books like – Vedas, Upanisad, Sutras, —– Aranyaka. Ther are books written on the subjects of state administration (Arthasastra), rules & regulations (Dharmasastras). There were dramas written on the basis of society and its people during ancient times by Kalidas.
(6) What information do we get by studying monuments?
Ans: Study of monuments provides important information about history. By observing the architecture of the monuments i.e. its design of pillars, statute, place, fort etc we can gather information about the lifestyle, architecture, art & culture of that period of a particular place.
