(1) At a rate of 10 p.c.p.a., what would be the interest for one year on Rs.6000?
ANS:
Let suppose that the interest on the principal of Rs.6000is x.
On principal Rs.100, the interest is Rs.10 (10 p.c.p.a).
We shall take the ratio of interest to principal, write it in two forms and obtain an equation.
X / 6000 = 10 /100
(X / 6000) × 6000 = (10 / 100) × 6000 (Multiplying both sides by 6000)
x = Rs.600
Interest of one year on Rs.6000 is Rs.600.
(2) Mahesh deposited Rs. 8650 in a bank at a rate of 6 p.c.p.a. How much money will he get at the end of the year in all?
ANS:
Let suppose that the interest on Mahesh deposited Rs.8650 is x.
On principal Rs.100, the interest is Rs.6 (6 p.c.p.a).
We shall take the ratio of interest to principal, write it in two forms and obtain an equation.
X / 8650 = 6 /100
(X /8650) × 8650 = (6 / 100) × 8650 (Multiplying both sides by8650)
x = Rs.519
Mahesh will get total money at the end of the year = Rs.8650 + Rs.519
Mahesh will get total money at the end of the year is Rs.9169
(3) Ahmed Chacha borrowed Rs. 25000 at 12 p.c.p.a. for a year. What amount will he have to return to the bank at the end of the year?
ANS:
Let suppose that the interest on Ahmad chacha borrowedRs.25000 is x.
On principal Rs.100, the interest is Rs.12 (12 p.c.p.a).
We shall take the ratio of interest to principal, write it in two forms and obtain an equation.
X / 25000 = 12 /100
(X /25000) × 25000 = (12 / 100) × 25000 (Multiplying both sides by 25000)
x = Rs.3000
Ahmad chacha return total money at the end of the year = Rs.25000 + Rs.3000
Ahmad chacha return total money at the end of the year is Rs.28000
(4) Kisanrao wanted to make a pond in his field. He borrowed Rs. 35250 from a bank at an interest rate of 6 p.c.p.a. How much interest will he have to pay to the bank at the end of the year?
ANS:
Let suppose that the interest on Kisanrao borrowed Rs.35250 is x.
On principal Rs.100, the interest is Rs.6 (6 p.c.p.a).
We shall take the ratio of interest to principal, write it in two forms and obtain an equation.
X / 35250 = 6 /100
(X /35250) × 35250 = (6 / 100) × 35250 (Multiplying both sides by 35250)
x = Rs.2115
Kisanraowill have to payinterest to the bank at the end of the year is Rs.2115.
