1.) Observe the figures below and write the type of the triangle based on its angles.
∆PQR is …… triangle.
ANS:
∆PQR contains Q angle 900
∆PQR is Right angled triangle.
ANS:
∆XYZ contains Y angle 1250
∆XYZ is Obtuse angled triangle.
ANS:
∆LMN contains all angles less than 900
∆LMN is Acute angled triangle.
2.) Observe the figures below and write the type of the triangle based on its sides.
ANS:
Triangles having all three sides are equal is called as “Equilateral Triangle”
∆ABC is Equilateral triangle.
ANS:
Triangles having all three sides are different is called as “Scalene Triangle”
∆DEF is Scalene triangle.
ANS:
Triangles having two sides are equal is called as “Isosceles Triangle”
∆UVW is Isosceles triangle.
3.) As shown in the figure, Avinash is standing near his house. He can choose from two roads to go to school. Which way is shorter? Explain why.
ANS:
Avinash choose Road AC to go school, which is shorter. Because AC is the hypotaneous and
∆ABC is Right angled Triangle.
4.) The lengths of the sides of some triangles are given. Say what types of triangles they are.
(1) 3 cm, 4 cm, 5 cm
ANS:
Triangles having all three sides are different is called as “Scalene Triangle”
This is scalene triangle.
(2) 3.4 cm, 3.4 cm, 5 cm
ANS:
Triangles having two sides are equal is called as “Isosceles Triangle”
This is Isosceles triangle.
(3) 4.3 cm, 4.3 cm, 4.3 cm
ANS:
Triangles having all three sides are equal is called as “Equilateral Triangle”
This is Equilateral triangle.
(4) 3.7 cm, 3.4 cm, 4 cm
ANS:
Triangles having all three sides are different is called as “Scalene Triangle”
This is scalene triangle.
- The lengths of three segments are given for constructing a triangle. Say whether a triangle with these sides can be drawn. Give the reason for your answer.
(1) 17 cm, 7 cm, 8 cm
ANS:
The sum of the lengths of any two sides of a triangle is always greater than the length of the third side.
Here 7 cm + 8 cm = 15 cm which is smaller than 17 cm.
Hence triangle construction is not possible.
(2) 7 cm, 24 cm, 25 cm
ANS:
The sum of the lengths of any two sides of a triangle is always greater than the length of the third side.
Here 7 cm + 24 cm = 31 cm which is greater than 25 cm.
Hence triangle construction is possible.
(3) 9 cm, 6 cm, 16 cm
ANS:
The sum of the lengths of any two sides of a triangle is always greater than the length of the third side.
Here 9 cm + 6 cm = 15 cm which is smaller than 16 cm.
Hence triangle construction is not possible.
