I) Answer each of the following in a sentence or two.
1.) When did Valentina go round the earth? What was great about this event?
Answer: Valentina travelled successfully in the space ship Vostok VI on June 16, 1963. She was the first woman cosmonaut to go into the space.
2.) How did Valentina help her mother? What else was she doing at the same time?
Answer: Valetina worked at a tyre factory and then at a textile mill to help her mother. She was also attending some classes at Yaroslav at the same time.
3.) How did people all over the world share her joys at the historic moment?
Answer: Crowds of people all over the world simply danced for joy when they heard that Valentina was going round the globe.
4.) What did she say on landing after the space flight?
Answer: After landing the space flight, she felt very happy. She said it is always better to be back at home.

Answer: Apart from flying, Valentina’s hobbies was music and literature. She loved reading.

Answer: Both Kalapna Chawla and Valentina were strong and daring women who went into the spaceship. It is an easy thing to do. Valentina went alone into the spaceship and became the first woman cosmonaut. After her mission, she landed safely on the earth. Kalapaa Chawla was the first woman of Indian origin to go to space. She first flew on Space Shuttle Columbia in 1997. While returning from Columbia the spaceship burnt into flames due to friction from the atmosphere. In that unfortunate accident, all seven astronauts including Kalpana Chawla were killed.
3.) What do you think youngsters like you can learn from the life of Valentina Tereshkova? Discuss and write.
Answer: Youngsters can learn many important things from the life of Valentina. Her hard work is quite praiseworthy. At the young age, she helped her family for economic needs. He passion and love for flying took her to new heights in her life. Her determination towards her dreams is something we should inculcate in our self.
