1.) Cite instances from the passage that show Sachin’s love for cricket even from a very early age.
Ans.Sachin’s love for cricket was from very early age. He used to play tennis-ball cricket with his colony friends. He also tried to follow the styles of his favourite players like Sunil Gavaskar, Vivian Richards while playing cricket.
2.) How did Shardashram Vidhyamandir differ from other schools in Mumbai?
Ans.Shardashram Vidhyamandir was different from other schools in their approach towards to sports, they gave adequate importance to cricket and most importantly Ramakant Achrekar was the cricket coach of the school.

This aspect of Achrekar showed that he was a sincere, devoted and trustworthy person who wholeheartedly made efforts for Sachin’s success.

Ans.Yes, the summer camp at Shivaji Park helped Sachin to mould himself into a real cricketer. The camp was not only giving Sachin training about the tactics of the game but was imparting awareness of discipline, hard work. The long camp hours were making Sachin robust both mentally and physically.
2.) Sachin loved playing with friends at home. Mr. Ramakant Achrekar wanted him to practise in the nets. What is the difference in playing street cricket and professional cricket? What was the role of Mr. Achrekar as a mentor to change Sachin to a professional cricketer?
Ans.The difference of playing street cricket and professional cricket are many in number. In street cricket the players can bend rules as per their requirement but in the professional cricket the rules are pre-fixed. The equipments used in professional cricket are provided in the fields by big and famous club. In the street cricket, there are not much any specific need for special equipments. Certain training is required for playing professional cricket but in street cricket anyone can participate.
Mr. Achrekar was a very talented cricket coach in Shardashram Vidhyamandir and also held summer camps for training the budding sports talent. When Sacin joined Mr. Achrekar’s camp, he was exposed to rigorous training schedule from early morning and late in the evening. Mr. Achrekar was also a visionary man and he understood by seeing Sachin play that Sachin would become a great player if he was trained correctly. He thus asked his parents to shift him to Shardashram Vidhyamandir to enable Sachin to practice more. He was also very strict and disciplined Sachin thoroughly. If Sachin was absent or missed his training.Mr. Achrekar would visit him and took him practice. Mr. Achrekar was a dedicated to make Sachin a superior batsman and encouraged to become a great cricketer.

ACTIVITY 1
Achrekar was able to foresee similar pictures even when Sachin was a school cricketer. Not only Achrekar, but also his father and brother played an important role in Sachin’s career. List out their roles.
