1) Write all the steps to select a non-consecutive text in Writer.
Ans:-
Following are the steps to select a not consecutive text in Writer:-
i) We have to select the first block of the text.
ii) Hold the CTRL key and drag mouse but to from first to the last character of the portion is used to select next block.
iii) By following the 2nd step you can select as many blocks you want.
Steps for selecting a non consecutive text using keyboard
i) Select the first block of the text.
ii) By pressing Shift + F8 key which will put writer in ‘ADD’ mode. The word ‘ADD’ appears or show non Status Bar.
iii) Make the use of arrow keys, to move to the start of second portion of text that needs to be selected. Use the step-1 for selecting next portion.
- iv) Follow the steps 2 & 3 to repeat the steps as many times required.
- v) For exiting the ADD mode, Press the Esc key from the key board.
2) How will you select the vertical block? List the steps in order.
Ans:-
The steps for selecting the vertical block are as follows:-
i) Click on Edit menu.
ii) Choose the selection mode option.
iii) Select the block area.
iv) Make use of mouse to select the desired block.
Follow the entire process to switch over to original selection, but make little change in 3rd step where to select the Standard option.
Press the ALT + SHIFT + F8 keys to select the Block Area alternatively. ALT + SHIFT + F8 keys works as a Toggle switch i.e. means by pressing the same keys combination again, you can switch over to the original mode.
3) How do you define the special characters? How will it you insert in a document?
Ans:-
The characters or a symbol which are not present on a Standard key board is called ‘Special characters’. For ex-¥, £, ©, % etc. The steps for inserting a special character in a document are as follows:-
i) Keep the mouse cursor at the place, where you want to insert special character in a document.
ii) From the Insert menu, select Special characters, the special characters dialog box gets opened.
iii) Select the characters that you wish to insert in document.
The selected characters will appear in the lower left side of dialog box. At the time of selecting characters, the character will be displayed along with its code on the lower right corner of the special character dialog box.
4) Which are the steps to count the total words of a document?
Ans:-
Following are the steps used for counting the total words of a document:-
- i) Select the block of text that you want to count.
- ii) Select the Word count option from Tools Menu.
You can also see the number of words, characters in the full document File Properties Statistics.
