It is prepared in industries by treating slaked lime (Ca(OH)2) with chlorine gas . When Calcium hypochlorite react with acid produces Calcium chloride, chlorine gas & water. It is an ionic compound. It is a white or grey solid at room temperature. It is a strong oxidizing agent since it can readily accept an electron .
