Habitat and Appearance
A herbivore horned, robust muscle animal is seen in Black, white, brown and a variety of colours in Himalayan regions & Southeast Asia, Europe and America.
They prefer habitats with cool temperature regions. The peculiarity of these Goats is the primary growth of hair which is the purest, softest and longest, attractive fur. This is called a ‘Downy’ coat. ‘Downy’ fur is directly form from the hair follicles. The goats are not all similar in appearance. They are interbreeds.
Gregarious and choosy herbivores.
The Cashmere Goat is a gregarious animal. They are together with 4-100 herds. Males have long Beards. The villagers and nomads see this goat as a source of milk. The Goat groom itself and feed upon Grass, Shrub, and Trees and are a very choosy or a picky eater.
Breeding habits & rituals
Male reaches maturity at age of 8 months and female at 10 months. Breeding season is in late summer. Female produces musky odour to seek males and Males fight with each other for Females. Females carry young ones for 5 months and the Birth of a young Cashmere Goat is mostly in February or May.
