India is a secular country with different languages, cultures, religions, traditions and ethnic values. There is a diverse range of languages in which we can find group of people speaking different languages. Each state of India has its own official language that is announced as official language by the government of India. Apart from official language, there are multiple local languages in different locations which we can find in every state. India has total 28 states and 8 union territories which clearly reflects the variety of languages. Since the beginning of preparing the constitution of India and implementing it, there have been several issues regarding national language of India. India does not have any national language as there is difference between national language and official language. The official language of India is Hindi and the most ancient language is Sanskrit. In this article, students will know about all the national / official languages of India and its scheduled year as per Indian constitution.
A per Indian constitution, there is no language in India as national language. Hindi was declared as national language but only 40% of total population speak in Hindi. So, there is an issue as not all the regional people learn and speak Hindi. People need to use their local languages for requirements and to remain their social culture alive. The constitution of India has included Hindi and English as two official languages for official works and communication in the national government. There are total 22 official languages included in Indian constitution till date which represent official language commission of the government. Candidates can opt any of their preferable regional or official languages listed in language section for appearing in their examination. Hindi language is adopted as official language by the central government as per article 343 of Indian constitution and is widely spoken in north India and other Hindi based states. English is another official language which was included for communicating with other states where people use different languages except Hindi. Candidates must remember names of different languages state-wise for their complete knowledge. Even they can learn other languages later for communication while travelling or working in other states.
