Ans. Yes, Laura was a regular visitor to the park. The moment she enters the park, she said that she was glad to be there. She feared that her seat would be occupied.
2.) Why are Don Gonzalo and Laura annoyed with each other?
Ans. Laura is annoyed with Don Gonzalo because even though she had warned him, he scared away the birds that were eating the crumbs she had given them. On the other hand, Don Gonzalo is annoyed because she was complaining about birds that were feeding in that park.
3.) Dona Laura reads without her glasses as she has keen eyesight.
4.) Gonzalo and Laura keep up humorous conversation because they have the same temperament.

Ans. At the point where both of them start revealing their secrets, they start recognizing each other. Gonzalo told her that was from Valencia and Laura told him that she had memories of Villa Maricela, it is then they recognize each other.
2.) What were the circumstances that led Gonzalo to flee Valencia?
Ans. Gonzalo was deeply in love with Laura. One night, he had gone to wait below Laura’s window to listen to her song. But then the merchant was supposed to marry him, came there and insulted him badly. After that they had duel in which he was badly wounded. He was scared of the whole situation, so he decided to fly to Valencia.
3.) Did Laura and Gonzalo pine for each other after they were separated by circumstances? Who is more passionate? How do they reach tp each other now?
Ans. Through their conservation, Laura and Gonzalo came to know that they were the former lovers. Though they pretend to keep it a secret, the love they had for each other was very much in their hearts. When she leaves the park, she has hopes to see him again, this tells us how much she longed for him. Laura’s love is more passionate them Gonzalo.
4.) What makes Dona Laura assume that Don Gonzalo is an ill-natured man?
Ans. When Laura was feeding pigeons, he came walked in the middle of them. When Laura questions him, he replies that he didn’t care about the birds. He questions her audacity and all these things made Laura think he is an ill-natured man.
5.) Laura and Gonzalo build up stories about themselves so that they can fool each other.
Comprehension III
1.) Trace how irony is built in the play. Did you guess the characters’ past even before they did so?
Ans. The story is about two people who were in love with each other when they were young. They would meet under Laura’s villa’s window. But then there comes a major twist in the story, Laura’s parents marries her to a merchant. When Gonzalo goes to meet her, the merchant insults him and there is a duel. In this duel, Gonzalo gets badly injured and this makes him fly to Valencia. Even being in Valencia, his love for her doesn’t stop him, he continues to write letters to her. But his letters was not received by Laura since her parents destroyed her. They both think that they have forgotten each other. But destiny makes them meet again in a park. One day while feeding to the pigeons, they both start to have conversation with each other. And after a while, they get to know that they were the same lovers. Though none of them disclosed it, they still loved each other. They pretended to be strangers. It is ironic to witness that though they both didn’t reveal their true self to each other, they still wanted to each other the next day.
2.) Why do Dona Laura and Don Gonzalo spin fictious stories about themselves?
Ans. Both Dona Laura and Don Gonzalo were at that stage of their lives, where they couldn’t do anything about their situations. Laura was married and Gonzalo had gout, so they thought that it would be better to keep their identities as secret. They just wanted to cherish their old sweet memories that they spent together rather than revealing their true self.
3.) Bring out the feelings of Laura and Gonzalo as they leave the park. Is it different from what they felt about each other in the beginning of the play?
Ans. In the beginning of the play, both of them are quite different with each other. They were just strangers. But as they came to know about their pasts, and realized that they were the same old lovers who loved each other deeply, they preferred to keep their identity as secret. Though both of them knew that they were the same lovers, they didn’t want to tell each other, as they wanted to go back in the past memories and live them. As they both leave the park, she thinks of going back to the same park again the next day just to meet him. She wanted to meet him again. At the end of play, the true love again starts to flourish again.
4.) What do you think would have happened if they had revealed their identity? Do you think they know who they are towards the end of the play?
Ans. If they had revealed their identity, there wouldn’t have been the same amount of excitement that they had. At the end of the play, they do know who they were, but they both wanted to keep it under wraps so that they couldn’t relive the old memories they had. It is because of their secret identity, that made their conversation interesting and surprising.
5.) How is the title ‘A Sunny Morning’ justifiable? Discuss.
Ans. ‘A Sunny Morning’ is an apt title, because as the sunny mornings bring joy and warmth in our day, in the same way, Laura and Gonzalo’s lives are filled with bright smiles on the sunny day that they met. A sunny morning brings relaxation and makes our mood happy giving us hope to start a new day, in the same way, here in the play, both of them have hopes to bloom their old love.
