The Tiger Summary Class 10 Chapter Two Poem by Peter Niblett
POEM: THE TIGER
SUMMARY
The poem “The Tiger,” written by “Peter Nililett,” is about a tiger sitting in a cage grieving and thinking whether his life would be easy if he was a free animal.
The poem starts with a tiger grieving about his life in a cage. The poet uses onomatopoeia to describe various sounds of the tiger’s moaning. As he was grieving, he dreamt of his freedom if he was a free animal. He dreamt that he would no longer have to perform on stage and that he would roam freely in the wild. But then, suddenly, a thought strikes him. He feared being hunted down by hunters if he was in the wild. He feared that someone could poison him. He feared being drowned in water. At last, he accepts his fate and starts grieving again.
