The Great Escape Summary
The Grate Escape’ is a narrative text written by Sugata Bose. The text describe how Subhas Chandra Bose was kept under house arrest by the British and his courageous out of escaping from the clench of the British to continue his struggle for India`s Freedom.
The text begins by describing how Subhas Chandra Bose sat leaning back on his Pillow, looking pale and thin with grown beard. His nephew Sisir came to meet him. When Subhas met Sisir he asked him to help Subhas to escape from the clutches of British. Accroding to Subhas`s plan , Sisir had to drive him to a railway station far away from Calcutta sisir went back to his house and was in wonder and excitement to help his uncle. Subhas`s house was graded by police all the time. After many discussion , both Subhas out through the main gate and would take him far away in his German car ‘Wanderer’ Subhas called his fellow freedom fighter, Akbar Shah for help. Akbar Shah came to meet him. Akbar Shah was introduced to sisir. Together they went to a shop to purchase baggy Shalwars and a black cap for Subhas`s disguise sisir also made arrangement far false identity under the name of Muhammad Ziauddin.
On 16th January 1941 they were set execute their plan. Sisir drove towards Subhas`s house. He parked his wanderer at the back of the house. Other than Subhas`s niece lla and a male cousin Dwijen, knew about this secret plan. When everyone was asleep, Subhas changed into has disguise as Muhammad Ziauddin. It was Dwijen Who signaled to Subhas that the police were not on the street that night Subhas and sisir tiptoed down the back stairs to the car. The light in Subhas`s bedroom was left on to give the impression that he was in the room. As Calcutta slept , uncle and nephew crossed Howrah Bridge and went beyond the city boundary. They drove off in to the right and reached to Bararee near Dhanbad. They stayed at sisir`s brother`s house. Subhas kept his disguise as Muhammad Ziauddin and said he had come on insurance business. They took rest in the day and had an early dinner .
Muhammad Ziauddin left alone Gomoh station. He wanted to catch the Delhi Kalka Mail. After walking for a while, Sisir picked him and gave lift in his car and reached the station, After that subhas said bye to sisir and went off into the right. Sisir stood watching the train leave.
