Speech on Global Warming
INTRODUCTION
Respected Principal Sir/Madam, teachers and dear fellow students. Before this beautiful day I have been given a lucky chance to address you all. In my full effort and power I intend to say a few words regarding my topic- “Global Warming”.
BODY
We are in the age of industrial modernism and there has been a lot of advancement in technology of late. With the rising technology, our lives are getting better and things are beginning to get easy, fast and convenient. We have come a long way up here and the future looks better and bright. We have become busy and occupied with our daily chase; we work round the clock till night and sometimes even nights are workaholic. With the sun rise we start our journey into the world and at sunset we come back home to our family and relax. But did you ask yourself, do you really follow the sunrise and sunset paradigm or is it the clock that you follow more than the nature itself. The answer may surprise you a bit but don’t be because yes it is a sad truth now, we have broken most of our ties with nature yet it is a fact we are a part of this natural world. How can we dislodge ourselves from the nature in the name of technological advancement and still hope to exist. You can still see some hope in the rural village areas where people begin their day with sunshine, but in urban city areas, it’s round the clock, as if they are chained to it. Let us talk about another aspect of this technological advancement, an aspect which shall bring us crude and limitless misery given we don’t take action very soon. In today’s world where everything is made up of carbon compounds we are left with no other option, and seriously we don’t want to modify our options, we are greedy and lazy creature. When everything has carbon as its part and output, carbon starts to accumulate in the nature and begin to trap sunrays into our atmosphere, when these rays can’t escape, this results into a phenomenon called global warming. As the name suggest, global warming refers to the rise in earth’s temperature. Well I think we all know what happens next after this. I mean the first thing is heat will rise, glaciers will become water, water levels will rise, and whole of the world’s ecological balance will become disrupted. Not to mention our very important ozone layer which protects us from sun’s harmful ultraviolet radiation will diminish and we are up for our death. The Air-conditioning systems, aerosol sprays, refrigerators etc. all contribute to a special chemical called Chlorofluro Carbons (CFCs) which then travel to the uppermost layer of the atmosphere where it damages the naturally occurring ozone layer.
Due to the global warming and rising earth’s temperature, water will evaporate from sea and storms and heavy uneven rains will occur. The whole natural order of things will become disrupted, and it is happening now in many places, and not so long when it will spread everywhere. Due to uneven water availability and rising temperatures, Tress and natural vegetation will dry up and die.
CONCLUSION
This phenomenon of global warming can only be stopped if we limit our carbon emissions and use modified technology, technology which is not heavily reliant on carbon emission but carbon consumption. Thank you all for being such a patient crowd.
