Speech essay on World Hindi Day – 10 January
The World Hindi Day is celebrated on 10th of January to mark to adoption of Hindi as universal language. We arrange a small event in our school today to mention about the significance of Hindi as the third-most spoken language all around the world. The guidance of teachers helps us to organise the event successfully. I want to share a speech to explain the importance of celebrating World Hindi Day at the beginning of the event.
Hindi is considered as the most common language speaking in India. It is estimated that 43.63% people speak Hindi in our country. It is observed that almost 600 million people speaks Hindi which makes it the third most-spoken language right after Chinese and English all around the world.
The United Nation General Assembly declared Hindi as the official language of India in 1949. The first official Hindi-speaking conference was held in Nagpur to celebrate the global recognition of the language in 1975. The Prime Minister of Mauritius was the chief guest of the official conference that was held with 100 delegated coming from thirty different countries. The initiative of former Prime Minister Manmohon Singh helped to introduce annual celebration of World Hindi Day in 2006. The Ministry of External Affairs also decided to arrange international events to promote the acceptance of the language worldwide. Cultural programs, poetry reading, quiz and debates are done to enhance the passion for Hindi as global language. The Indian Postal Commission has launched special stamps to promote the universal position of the language.
The World Hindi Day is celebrated with the aim to secure position of Hindi as international language. The celebration of the day helps to mark the contribution of Hindi speakers in global development. The organised events assist to identify the problems faced to enhance usage of Hindi in international locations.
