1.) Let’s talk
a.) Who are the people you meet every day in school or on the street?
Ans. Everyday I meet different kinds of people, both in school and on the street. The different types of people I meet in school are my teachers, other students some of whom are my friends, helping staff, etc. On the street, I meet people like vendors, carpenters, milkmen, sweepers and policewoman.
b.) What work do you see them doing?
Ans. The different people I see everyday perform different kinds work. The teachers in my school teach us different subjects like English, Science and Mathematics. The vendors sell items like vegetables, newspapers and momos. The carpenters cut down big logs of wood in their workshops. The milkmen carry big milk jars in jute baskets and sweepers clean the roads. The policewoman I see everyday controls the traffic expertly.
c.) Of all the different kinds of work mentioned in the poem, which work do you like the most? Why?
Ans. All the different kinds of work mentioned in the poem are important and necessary for us. However,I like the work of the policewoman the most. This is because she is responsible for our safety on the roads and I would like to grow up to be such a responsible person.
d.) Why do you think people go to work?
Ans. I think people go to work because different kinds of work enable us to live together harmoniously. Different kinds of work help us fulfill our different needs like education, clean environment, availability of goods, protection and security.
e.) What will happen if people stop doing their work?
Ans. If people stop going to work, then our different needs, which are looked after by the people performing those work, will not be fulfilled. We will not have teachers to teach us, sweepers to clean our surroundings, vendors to provide goods, police to keep us safe, etc.
f.) In the poem, we see the policewoman, a musician and a shopkeeper. What are the other kinds of work that people do? What kind of work would you like to do?
Ans. Other kinds of work that people do are vendors, vets, sweepers, etc. I like the work of the policewoman the most. This is because she is responsible for our safety on the roads and I would like to grow up to be such a responsible person.

b.) Make a list of people who help us. How would life be if they were not around? How do they depend on
you? How do you depend on them? Write down your thoughts in your notebook. Share them with your partner.

If they would not be around then our different needs, which are looked after by the people performing those work, will not be fulfilled. We will not have teachers to teach us, sweepers to clean our surroundings, vendors to provide goods, police to keep us safe, etc.
They depend on me for helping them keep the surroundings safe and clean. People like the milkman and vendor depend on me for buying their goods and the teachers depend on me for studying diligently and becoming a good citizen.
I depend on them as my different needs are met by them like education, safety, cleanliness, daily goods, etc.
On a holiday, in October, Seema and her friends went for a field trip to a paddy field. It was lush, r n and ready for harvesting. They talked to some armers. Then, they wrote a report about the visi elP- eema finish writing the report.

Place of visit : East District Paddy Field
Today we went to the paddy fields in the East District. The weather today was pleasant. While we were there, we saw large fields which were lush green and the crops seemed to be ready for being harvested.
We also met the farmer and learnt about the months when paddy is sown and which is the best time to harvest it. We also learnt about the type of climate and soil as well as other requirements such as quantity of water needed for cultivating paddy.
