(1) Change the following from the Direct into the Indirect form of Speech:-
The milkman said to him, “I have no milk today.” The hunters said to the man, “You may go this way.” He said to you, “I was much surprised at your conduct.” The man said to the boy, “I shall reward you for your honesty.” He said to his brother, “You can avail yourself of the opportunity.” My friend said to me, “I have tried my best to secure good marks.” The farmer said, “The rainis useful for the crops.” People say, “Two and two is four.” The teacher said to the boys. “The Himalayas are in the north of our country.” Bharat said to Kaikyayi, “You have not done good to me.” They said to me, “We have not been playing here for a long time.” She said to her brother, “I was waiting for you.”
Answer :

The boy told his friend that he would help him with money. The teacher said that days and nights are equal on the equator.

(1) Turn into Indirect form of speech :-
He said tome, “How will you do this?” They said to her, “Who are you and what do you want of us?” She said to her brother, “When will you return from the market?” The teacher said to the boys, “Who has broken the chair?” They said to us, “Why did you make a noise in the class?” The teacher said to the boy, “Do you take exercise regularly?” “Why don’t you labour hard?” asked the doctor.
Answer :
He asked me how I would do that.
They asked her who she was and what she wanted from them.
She asked her brother when he would return from the market.
The teacher asked the boys who had broken the chair.
They asked us why we had made noise in the class.
The teacher asked the boy if he took exercise regularly.

(2) Turn into Direct form of Speech :-
Hari asked me how I did the work. She enquired of me when I would meet her. They asked the man if he was going to London. The boy enquired of me if I had taken his books. You asked me whether I had been playing there for a long time.
Answer :
Hari asked, “How did you do the work?”
She inquired of me, “When will you meet her?”
They asked the man, “Are you going to London?”
The boy inquired of me, “Have you taken my books?”
You asked me, “Have I been playing there for a long time?”

Change the following into Indirect form of speech :-
(1) I said to the boy, “Go out of the class at once.”
(2) The teacher said to the boy, “Let me see your exercise book.”
(3) He said to me, “Wait here till I return.”
(4) The father said to his sons, “Never tell a lie.”
(5) The boy said to the teacher, “Pardon me, Sir.”
(6) They said to the students, “Labour hard if you want to succeed in the examination.”

Turn into Direct form of Speech :-
He told me to go home. I requested him to lend me his book. She requested us to dine with her. The mother told her daughter not to loiter inthe street. The teacher told the boys not to join bad society. We requested him to let us do our work. The father told his sons to be quiet andlisten to him.
Answer :
He said, “Go home.”
I said to him, “Please lend me your book.”
She said, “Please dine with us.”
The mother said to her daughter, “Don’t loiter in the street.”
The teacher said to the boys, “Don’t join bad society.”
We said to him, “Please let us do our work.”
The father said to his sons, “Be quiet and listen to me.”

Turn the following inti Indirect form of speech :-
He said, “May you live long!” We said, “Long live our Prime Minister!”
They said to the bride, “May you lead a happy life!” He said, “Oh! I am ruined”. You said, “What a fool he is!” She said, “How clever you are!”
“Goodbye! father” said Hari, as he got into the train. He said, “God! help me in this misfortune”. He said, “Good Heaven! how strongly he has done this!” He said, “Good morning, my friends!”

He wished for us to live long.

He exclaimed that he was ruined.

Turn the following into Indirect form of speech:-
Socrates said to his disciples, “Let me die in peace.” Sunil said to his servant, “Let the man come in.” The guests said to me, “Let us go for a walk today.” The teacher said, “Let there be a circle.” Ashoka said, “Let us ring the bells.”

Socrates requested his disciples to let him die in peace.
