1) Explain external fertilization in fishes.
Ans. Is a type of fertilization in which the fusion of a male and a female gamete takes place outside the body of the female is called as external fertilization. ex- fertilization that takes place in fish.
Female fish lays hundreds of eggs which are not covered by a shell and are comparatively very delicate. A layer of jelly holds these eggs together and provides protection to the eggs As the eggs are laid down, the male fish deposits sperms over the eggs. Each sperm swims randomly in water with the help of its long tail. When the sperms come in contact with the eggs, fertilization takes place.
2) Explain budding.
Ans. budding is a process of asexual reproduction. It takes place in some organisms like Hydra. In this type of reproduction, the new individuals develop as outgrowths from a single parent. Since new individuals develop from the buds as in hydra, this type of asexual reproduction is called budding.
