(c) Filament gets heated up and then starts emitting light
(d) Thick wires get heated up and then starts emitting light
→ (c) Filament gets heated up and then starts emitting light.
(5) Very Short answer question: –
(i) What is electric cell?
→Electric cell is an electric power/ source ofelectricity. Which stored chemical insideand one metal capand one side electric disc, which is positive(+) and negative(-) pole. Inside chemical produce electricity.
(ii) What is electric current?
→An electric circuit when we switched ON switch, from electric cell to bulb we connected metal wires on both poles. These wires caring electric power is electric current. The bulb glows only when current flows through the circuit.
(iii) What is electric circuit?
→Electric circuit is a cell, metal wires, on/off switch and bulb connected with each other’s for glowing bulb, it is called electric circuit.
(6) Short answer questions: –
(i) Why should we dry our hands before touching an electric appliances or a switch?
→Because, water is also a major conductor of electricity, so we dry our hands before touching an electric appliance or a switch to avoiding electric shocks.
(ii) A student while performing an experiment in the science lab, connected an electric bulb to an electric cell through an electric switch. He noticed that the bulb does not glow when the electric switch was set in its ON position.
Mention any two reasons for this observation?
→ When bulb not glows there are some reasons, (1) Bulb is fused,
(2) Wrong circuit connection, (3) current carrying cables break anywhere etc.
(iii) Distinguish between the terms conductions and insulators of electricity.
Give two examples of each type?
→ Which materials are allowing electricity flows with them are called conductors.
For example: metal, copper, gold, silver, water, etc.
Which materials are not allowing electricity flows with them are called insulators.
For example: plastic, wood, Rubber, etc.
(iv) Tools, like screw drivers and pliers, used by electricians have handles made up of plastic, rubber, wood, why?
→Conductors and insulators both are important for us, tools, like screw drivers and pliers are made from metallic material which is a conductor of electricity, Thus, as an insulator electrician have handles made up of plastic, rubber or wood. ‘Prevent them from electric shocks.’
(v) Explain why the bulb would not glow in the arrangement shown at below?
→As per following diagram, arrangement shown below is wrong, instead of direct metal cable from cell positive (+) terminal to switch they are using insulatormaterial like rubber, jute thread etc.
(vi) Match the labels with the correct parts of the circuit given below?
→ (a) Cell – Provides Electric Current, (b)Switch – A device used for making/ breaking a circuit, (c)Bulb – Device which lights up.
(7) Long answer questions: –
(i) Using the “conduction testes” on an object it was found that the bulb being to glow. Is that object conductors or insulator. Explain?
→Material which allow electric current to pass through them are ‘conductors’ of electricity and the materials which does not allow electric current to pass through them are ‘insulators’ of electricity. Conductors and insulators both are important for us. Electric wires, switches, electrical plugs, and sockets are conductors. On other hand, rubber and plastics are used for covering electric wires, plug tops, switches, and other parts of electrical appliances, which people might touch are made up of insulator materials.
(ii) The handlers of the tools like screw drivers and pliers used by electrician for repair work usually has plastic or rubber covers on them. Can you explain why?
→Conductors and insulators both are important for us, tools, like screw drivers and pliers are made from metallic material which is a conductor of electricity,
Thus, as an insulator electrician have handles made up of plastic, rubber or wood. ‘Prevent them from electric shocks.’ Our body is a conductor of electricity. Therefore, all the handlers of the electrical working tools are used insulated tools like, rubber, plastic, wood cover they also use plastic shoes, and rubber hand glows.
EXTRA QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS:
Write short answers: –
(1) Define electric cell?
→ Electric cell is a source of moveable electricity.
(2) Explain electric cell in short?
→An electric cell has two terminals, i.e. called positive (+ ve) and negative (- ve) terminals. With include carbon rod and chemical paste.
(3) Explain electric bulb?
→The electric bulb is filled with an inert gas like argon. This gas helps to save the filament from burning out in oxygen that is present in normal air.
(4) Which major reason in circuit bulb glow?
→ In circuit, cable, switch, bulb, and cell is the connected particularly. But the major reason for bulb glow is ‘electric current’ passes from cell to bulb.
(5) Which simple device that used in circuit?
→ ‘Switch’ is the simple device used in circuit.
(6) Define Conductors?
→Which materials that allow electric current to pass through them are called ‘Conductors.’
(7) Define Insulator?
→ Which materials that do not allow electric current to pass through them are called ‘Insulator.’
