Then take a pot filled with water, when the water boils, add all the washed rice. Slow down the heat until the water evaporates out of the pot. After wait of twenty or twenty-five minutes it will be ready to serve. Serve hot rice in a plate with spicy curry or fish or any other sabji you like.

Rice is a staple diet of many Indians mainly in the eastern and southern parts of the country. The states like West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Tamil Nadu etc grow the maximum amount of rice in the country. West Bengal is the largest producer of rice, the hot and humid of the state supports its growth. There are many varieties of rice like Basmati rice, Black rice, Brown rice Long Grain rice, Baanskathi boiled rice, Tulaipanji boiled rice, Chinisakkar boiled rice etc. Each have different size, texture and fragrance and grown in different parts of the country. The sight of beautiful white rice is very tempting for rice lovers. The cooking of rice is an important procedure to make it delicious. First of all, the desired quality of rice is bought from the market. The required amount of rice is taken in a bowl and rinsed properly so that all the impurities get washed away. A requisite amount of water is put on stove to boil. When the water starts to boil, the clean rice is poured in it. The time is set as per the quality of rice and dish that is being prepared. Generally, 30 minutes is required to bring the rice in fully cooked state. The rice should be checked in regular intervals when boiling so that it does not get overcooked and become sloppy. Once cooked, the starch is drained from the pot by using the sieve carefully and served hot for devouring.

One day, when mother was going out, she told me that I have to cook rice for myself as she could only manage to cook all other items and she was in hurry. When the water started to boil, I poured the rice into the boiling water as directed by mother. I covered the potand left it for thirty minutes. Mother said thirty minutes is required to cook rice and to check in between so that it does not become soggy.Once cooked, I drained the starch and it was finally ready to eat.
