Ought and Had Better both are the types of Modal Auxiliary verbs.

Ought-
OUGHT Can be used while discussing or talking about things that are desired or ideal.
OUGHT TO has the same meaning as SHOULD in sentences. it does not appear or used in sentences very often. OUGHT also can be used to indicate duty, accuracy or corrections.
OUGHT TO can be only used in present and future tenses. And not in past tense form.
Example–
You ought to exercise more to become physically fit.
You ought to get some rest to relax before your exam.
When you are making any negative statement by using OUGHT TO then replace TO with NOT
We can use it to give advice or suggestions. It is rarely used as a verb in questions and in negative statements.
Example-
You ought not ride a bike before practicing it on the road.
Had Better –
HAD BETTER can be used to discuss acts we believe people should take or that are desirable in a certain circumstance,
HAD BETTER can also be used to show present or the future tense in sentences.
Had better is a Powerful phrase. We employ it when we believe there will be consequences if someone disobeys our requests or suggestions.
Example-
Radha had better get here soon or she will be late for her exam paper.
HAD BETTER NOT is a negative form of HAD BETTER.
Example-
Shina had better not keep her things on the teacher’s desk.
