Ans. The earth takes 24 hours to complete one rotation.
b) Why does the sun seem to move from east to west?
Ans. The sun seems to move from east to west because the earth rotates from west to east.
c) What is an ellipse?
Ans. The orbit of the earth is oval in shape which is called an ellipse.

a) What are the two motions of earth?
Ans. The earth has two motions. The spinning on its axis, called rotation while the movement around the sun, called revolution.
b) What is a leap-year?
Ans. The month of February has 29days instead of 28 days once in every 4 years and that particular years which has 366 days because of it, is called a leap-year.
c) What is midnight sun?
Ans. There is continuous daylight in the North Pole because the sun never sets in the regions around the North Pole. The sun can be seen even at midnight which is called midnight sun.
d) What are equinoxes?
Ans. On 21st March and 23rd September, day and night are of equal length all over the world i.e., 12 hours of day and 12 hours of night. These two days are called equinoxes.
