3.) Superstitions – People who think that sins or supernatural forces are to blame for their mental illness are less likely to see a doctor. Instead of seeking out competent specialists, many believe that modern medicine and psychotherapy cannot cure their ailment.

(c) Offer encouragement and knowledge – By receiving both emotional and intellectual support, the individual will feel a greater possession of the issue.
(d) Encourage the individual to seek professional assistance: People with mental illnesses may be reluctant to seek assistance owing to a lack of understanding or the stigma associated with doing so. Others could react inappropriately to someone exhibiting “red flags” of mental disorders and cause further damage.
