Sub: Problem of female foeticide still prevalent in India
Sir,
Through your esteemed publication I would like to draw attention of the Government and medical authorities regarding female foeticide, which is still being prevalent in India. Most of the lower and poor groups in remote villages till today believe that the female child is being a burden to the family in terms of money and where jobs are concerned and therefore are forced to commit such brutal acts of female foeticide.
Most of the cities as well are being male dominated, like several work places, factories, institutes etc. Although, this has changed in most of the metro cities, where females are given more preference, several localities still lack facilities for women. Government should take strict action against persons committing such crime and should enforce severe punishment.
Medical institutes, hospitals and clinics should be vigilant and should immediately raise complaint against persons committing such offences. The licenses of medical practitioners, hospitals and clinics should be terminated for accepting bribes to commit such offences.
People should understand that the male and female child should be treated equally and given the same value. Government, while providing schemes and facilities to male child should simultaneously provide schemes and facilities to the female child as well specially in the remote villages. This will prevent female foeticide in these villages.
Hoping the Government and medical authorities take prompt action, with this publication in your newspaper.
Yours sincerely,
Rahul Naik
