C1.) Answer each question briefly :
1.) Who did the lion make his Home Minister and why?
Answer: As the fox was known as clever and wise, the lion made him the Home Minister.
2.) Who was made the Defence Minister and why?
Answer: As the leopard is known as alert and swift-footed, the lion made him the Defense Minister.
3.) Why was the crow made the Minister for External Affairs?
Answer: As the crow could fly high in the sky, he was made the Minister for External Affairs.
4.) What promise did the three ministers make to the king?
Answer: The three ministers promised the king to remain faithful to him.
5.) What did the king promise to do for his ministers?
Answer: In return, the king promised the ministers to give them food and protection.
6.) How did the ministers always have enough to eat?
Answer: When the lion went hunting, the ministers helped him to find the prey. After having his fill, he would leave the remains for them. In this way, they always had enough to eat.
7.) What did the crow tell the lion about the camel?
Answer: The crow told about that the camel that he had seen a lone camel in a desert and it was big and fat.
8.) Who brought the camel to the lion and how?
Answer: The cunning fox brought the camel to the lion. The fox told the camel that the lion had killed its master and he was free. He further added that their king (the lion) invited the camel and with there in the forest.
9.) Why did the lion feel grateful to the camel?
Answer: The camel carried the lion on his back and took him to the forest.
10.) Why did the lion ask his ministers to get him some food?
Answer: The lion was very hungry and his paws were badly burnt so he couldn’t go to hunt by himself, and this is why he asked his ministers to get him some food.
11.) Who do you think proved most faithful to the king?
Answer: The camel proved to be most faithful to the king.

C3.) Discuss the following questions in small groups and present your answers to the whole class :
1.) ‘The clever fox at once thought of a plan.’ What plan did the clever fox think of?
Answer: The clever fox went to the place where the camel was sitting and greeted him and praised him saying that their king (the lion) had invited him to his court and the fox asked him (the camel) to hurry and join them.
2.) ‘The ministers were shocked to hear this.’ What did they hear? Why were they shocked?
Answer: When the ministers presented the camel to the lion, the lion instead of eating it, thanked him for saving his life. The lion in return promised the camel to protect him. This change of lion’s attitude made the ministers shocked because they thought that their king would eat the camel meat but nothing happened instead the king let the camel live in the forest.
3.) ‘ The camel was deeply moved by the loyalty shown by the three ministers.’ Were the three ministers loyal to the lion? Give reasons.
Answer: The fox made a clever plan and according to that the ministers went to the king and told him that there was no food that day. Then the crow said to the king that he was his loyal servant and he could eat him, then the fox came and requested the king to eat him as he had more flesh than the crow. The leopard said that he was bigger and he (the king) could eat him. The camel was deeply moved by the loyalty shown by the three ministers and he came forward and requested that he should eat him as the king’s ministers were helpful to him. As the camel spoke those words, the three ministers greedily got ready to pounce on him. It was then the king stopped them and said how deeply he was touched by the loyalty of all them and he said that he would accept their offers and eat all of them in the order they had offered themselves. This declaration of the king revealed the true colors of the three ministers and three of them went away. It was only the camel that stayed back and showed how true was to his words.
4.) Why did the three ministers run away from the place?
Answer: To test the ministers, the smart king told that he would eat four of them. The three ministers got scared and ran away. The three ministers were selfish and unfaithful to the king.
