Answer. How happy I was when the puppy was with me. I felt as I got some company to play and spend time with. I thought it will live with me and I can share all my stories with him. I could play with him and take it with me whenever I would go out for any need. It could be with me always in home too. I had lots of expectations to be with that cute puppy and forget my loneliness. But when I realised I could not keep it anymore my heart got broken. I started feeling sad and lonely again.
The Boy and the Balloon:

Answer. The conductor did not allow the boy to get into the bus with his balloon. He behaved so strictly that the boy could not reach his destination by the bus.
6.) The boy has to walk all the way to school because he is not ready to leave the balloon. What do you think is the reason for the boy’s hesitation to leave the balloon?
Answer. The boy did not wish to leave the balloon because it was favourite object to him. He liked how the balloon was moving around in air and returning back to him.

Answer. Yes, the sweeper was friendly with the boy. When the boy asked him to hold the balloon for some time he took it without any hesitation.
The sweeper obligingly takes the balloon and holds it.

Answer. The boy keeps the balloon under the shade of umbrella and he himself gets wet in rain. He did this to protect the balloon from rain because he does not wait to let the balloon get wet.

Answer. The boy runs after a woman with umbrella, hold the balloon under her umbrella and walks with her. Then he walks up to two nuns with umbrella out of one allows him to walk under her umbrella. After that, he saw a man was crossing the bridge, he walked with him by holding the balloon under his umbrella.

Answer. In the story, among all the characters I liked the boy’s character the most. I liked the way took care of the balloon even in rain. He protected the balloon, kept I in the shade of umbrella while he got wet in rain.
b) The balloon shows certain human characteristics in some of the scenes. Find them out.
Answer. The balloon bobs up and down, but does not go away. It hovers around the window of the boy’s home.The Boy told the Balloon to obey him and be good. The Boy called the balloon and told to come down. The balloon floated down to the boy gently. When the boy raised his hand to catch hold of the string, the balloon playfully evaded him.
c) What do you think about the attitude of the boy’s mother towards the balloon?
Answer. The boy’s mother did not like when the boy came home with balloon in his hand. She shook her head in disapproval when noticed the boy with balloon, drew the curtain and disappeared. Later, she opened the window and threw the balloon outside.
d) You may have noticed that while going to school and on returning home, the boy feels lonely. What may be the reason for this?
Answer. The boy feels lonely while going to school and returning home. He got used with the company of the balloon whenever he went outside. He was used to protect the balloon and treated it like a friend. So, he was missing the balloon during his daily activities.
e) Do you go to school alone? Compare your experience with that of the boy.
Answer. Yes, I go to school alone.
The journey to my school is quite different from the boy. I do not have any non-living companion with me. But I go to school with my two friends who are my neighbour too. We share our umbrellas too when I forget to take my own. I never feel bored for their company during my journey to school. I do not realise he time when I reach school as time passes soon when I am with them.

I did not expect such behaviour from my mother which upsets me more. I hope you understand the situation and my feelings. There is only you with whom I can share my deep feelings.
