Ans: India has diverse physiography such as mountain ranges, plains,vast plateau, deserts, coastal plains and islands.
A.) Mountains of India:
A part of Himalayas,the loftiest mountain range in the world,belongs to India. Other major mountain ranges are: Aravallis, The western ghats, The eastern ghats, The vindhya range and the Satpura ranges.
B.) Plains of India:
Plains are extensive and level landforms. These plains were formed by the deposition of alluvium brought down by the rivers originating from the Himalayas. These are known as the Indo-ganga-brahmaputra plains.
C.) Deserts in India:
A major part of the state of Rajasthan, situated to the north west of India,is a desert. Which is known as the Thar desert.
D.) Plateau of India:
Plateaus are elevated landforms with almost flat surfaces. The Deccan plateau is the largest in India. Other major plateaus are Malwa and Chota nagpur.
E.) Coastal regions of India:
Coastal regions are lowlands surrounding the sea. India has a long coastal line.
F.) Islands of India:
