1) What is a Server
Ans :- A server is a computer in a network, in which a website is hosted. For such purpose, a separate software has to be setup in the computer for exchanging information and helps in satisfying the needs of a variety of users using the website. An IP address is also provided for the computer. The server softwares are developed by the well known companies like Oracle, Apache etc. Servers operating capacity should be much high, because many peoples access the website at the same time.
2) What do you mean by IP Address and Domain Name Server/ system (DNS)
Ans :- IP Address :- IP address stands for Internet Protocol. Website hosting means where the websites are normally installed in the servers around the network. The server is given an IP address like 103.251.43.162. Any computer in the network will be having an unique IP address. Domain Name Server/ System : – Whatever we type in a browser is domain or Domain Name Server/ System (DNS) is a service in the Internet, used to identify the corresponding IP addresses of a domain and vice verse. Some examples of domain names are as follows – irctc.co.in , gimp.org , birdsofindia.org , etc.
3) What is a Website.
Ans :- The pages which are created in HTML (webpages) which are meant to be published on the internet (Web), which contains a folder with necessary files including videos, images, sound files, animations, video software etc. It is called as Website. For ex – www.google.com, www.yahoo.com, www.rediff.com , www.facebook.com , www.twitter.com etc
4) Write a short note on HTTP and URL
Ans :- HTTP :- In every network there is a requirement of the protocol, which helps in exchanging of files. HTTP (Hyper Text Transfer Protocol) is the protocol which is used for transferring HTML files and other resources on the internet. Such protocol is available in all servers and is a part of the browser.
URL :- Any website which is to be transferred by HTTP, apart from its domain name, and other resources in it, will have a separate address. This is known as URL (Uniform resource Locator). The Uniform Resource Locator (URL) contains the protocol for exchanging the file, , name of the website and the place where it is located.
5) What is e-mail? Write some advantages and disadvantages
Ans :- E-mail stands for electronic mail, which means the messages over the globe are been exchanged (sent or recieved) with the help of Internet (Electronically). One message can be sent to many persons at a time. For using e-mail, the sender and recipient needs to have their email accounts on the email service providers like www.gmail.com , www.yahoomail.co.in. The advantages and Disadvantages of E-mail are as follows
Advantages
i) As the messages are been exchanged electronically, so the stationary cost reduces.
ii) Messages are sent and received very fast.
iii) Less number of people are involved in exchanging messages (sender and reciever)
iv) Messages are exchanged all over the world.
Disadvantages
i) Internet connection is required to exchange messages. Messages cannot be transferred /exchanged until there Internet connection.
ii) Arise in the expense/ bill of Internet facility service
iii) Both the users (sender and receiver) must have an email account.
6) What is Social media? Write the things are to be remembered while using Social Media and preventive measures to be taken
Ans :- It is the concept of a medium of exchanging news, information, jkes, share pictures and videos socially with the growth of Internet is called social Media. Nowadays Social media has become an important part of our life. The status of a person on Social media is identified/reflected by the well constructed page on social media, its design, contents etc. Social media helps to maintain friendships beyond the geographical boundaries. Besides of jokes, some important news, information or warnings can be shown on social media. Social groups on social medias can also help influentially in framing government policies of a nation. Generous help during the disasters can also be rendered with the help of social media. Some of todays well known social media are Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter, Instagram etc. The advantages and disadvantages of using social media depend upon the tendency of the person who is making the use of it.
Things to be remembered while making use of Social Media
(a) Just think well before making any posts on social media, because once the thing is posted on social media it cannot be taken back later on for a second thought. Even before that is withdrawn many people would have already downloaded that post or might have been shared.
(b) Keep your personal information quite private/secured on social media. Never try to leak your private information to anyone (like personal private pictures, videos etc) on social media, as if later on it can be misused.
(c) If any disaster occurs in our surroundings/locality, we are not supposed to share any fearful or fake messages to anyone regarding to it. Creating and forwarding of fake messages on social media is an offense. Strictly follow the instructions provided by the government through various media.
(d) Making vulgar messages and bullying is a crime as per law. So please try to avoid such friendships.
(e) Just keep in mind, that those who commit cybercrimes cannot remain hidden forever. In a huge network they don’t get noticed easily for a brief period only but if anyone reports about such activists, the cyber police (Cyber Crime Cell/Department) can easily track them down
(f) Profiles that are put up on social media may sometimes be stolen/hacked. There is a possibility someone can use your profile to hide his/her identity or to defame someone. If you notice of such happenings, instantly inform it to the police (cyber department/cell) and get them removed.
Preventive Measures to be taken for safe use of social media
(a) Make maximum use of safety features in your social media account and configure privacy measures.
(b) Do not add or tolerate any person as your friend, if you don’t know him personally or trust him. Remember what they reveal their identities on social media may not be the truest/real one.
7) What do you understand by the term Descent and Obscene
Ans : – Today’s Internet has become an important part of our life. Internet is a medium that works independently. Many people also make use of such facility for different purposes like communication, entertainment, business etc. A vast majority of them give accurate and correct/decent information whereas some of them give misleading /obscene information. The countries like India bans/ restricts such obscene/misleading websites. Therefore
(a) Before connecting to Internet, think well about the needs. Think well about the keywords that you want to search on the Internet. Without any specific need, do not search/browse the internet.
(b) Take care before opening/ entering any sites on Internet, because websites containing obscene information have many traps to attract and cheat us.
8) What is E-banking
Ans :- E- banking means conducting transactions of bank account through a website which is specifically built for the purpose. To get the online transaction facility for a bank account, we have to fill up online banking form to the bank. Before starting to use the account, we need to get the username and password etc. once the system/ facility is enabled
(a) We can find out the bank account (transaction) details from any place without physically going to the bank.
(b) We can check our recent transactions in a similar manner
(c) We can transfer money to anyone (bank account) and can receive money from anyone (bank account)
