I.) Answer the following questions in two or three sentences each.
1.) Why did Ramesh name his home “Shyamkamal”?
Ans: Shyama Rao and Kamala was an old couple who’s treated Ramesh as their son.The couple loved Ramesh very dearly. Ramesh named his home “Shyamkamal” for his father’s suggestion.
2.) Whom did Ramesh stay with when he was in Dharwad?
Ans: Ramesh stayed with an old couple when he was in Dharwad. The couple is Shyama Rao and Kamala.
3.) Was Kamala Bai selfish?
Ans: Kamala Bai was so selfless woman. She loved Ramesh dearly as son. Kamala Bai shared her meal with Ramesh.
4.) How did Shyama Rao help Ramesh?
Ans: Shyama Rao gave Ramesh a place to stay with their. He also supported Ramesh whole heartedly in his decision to study in a bigger town. Shyama loved him like a son. If Ramesh was late in paying his college fees then he would lend some money from his meager pension.
5.) Why did Ramesh’s friends call him ‘‘the couple’s Man Friday”?
Ans: Ramesh ‘s friends called him “the couple’s Man Friday” because Ramesh used to run errands for the couple (Shyama and Kamala) and do add jobs like going to the post office, buying fruit and vegetables, watering plants etc.
7.) Describe Kamala Bai and Shyama Rao.
Ans: Kamala Bai was a generous heart of woman. She was very helpful to helpless person. She had the ability to turn strangers into family.
Shyama Rao was a very helpful person. He was a retired postmaster and Ramesh father’s friend. He was a supportive man to others.
