Here we will discuss about PuttarajGawai. PuttarajGawai is a legendary musician. He was born on 3rd March, 1914. His native place was Devagiri, near Karajagi in Haveri district. His parents were very pious couple they were Revanayya and Siddamma. His parents named him “Puttayya”. The child was very attractive with bright eyes but when Puttayya was not even six months old, his eyes became infected. He lost the eyesight at an early age. In two year age he lost his father. Then his maternal uncle took under his care. His maternal uncle helped him many ways and he became a legendary person. He was a legendary musician, a vocalist, a gifted writer, a playwright, an instrumentalist, an ardent lover of music, a proprietor and director and a poet all rolled into one. He dedicated his entire life for educating the visually – challenged and destitute children. His famous plays were SreeKumareshwaraKavya, Akkamahadevi Purana, Satisukanya, Puratanara Puraba, Sharanara Basaveshwara Purana etc. He died on 17th September in 2010 at the Veereshwara Punyashrama in Gadag in north Karnataka. This physically-challenged individual was a sublime ideal soul in word.
