Q2. Answer the following questions in about 30/40 words each:-
(a)How does the individual give approval to the government ?
Ans:- Individuals give approval to the government through the process of election. People elect their representatives to the parliament. These elected representatives forms the government. These elected representative controls and guides the various functions of the government. In this way people through their representatives from the government.
(b) State the period preceding independence ?
Ans:- Before Independence, during the British period, people could not agree with the terms and rules of the British government but feared getting punished for going against them. But with the emergence of Indian National Congress, people become more vocal about the problems and it was demanded to have transparency and elected members to be a part of the legislature. In response to this, The Government Act of 1909 was passed but it was still not satisfactory and just.
(c) Explain a coalition government.
Ans:-The word coalition is derived from Latin word “ coalition” which means to grow together.. A coalition Government forms while political parties cooperate each other to form a Government. This happens when no single party has achieved an absolute majority of votes after an election.
d) State the prerogative powers of the President
Ans:-The President is the head of the state .So he has some supreme prerogative power is one of it.. Under this power The President can grants pardon, reprieves or remissions of punishment order for life imprisonment of any person convicted of an offence.
