Muhammad Ghori
i) Muhammad Ghori, was the sultan of ghor. He tried to expand his empire into Iran but he defeated by Shah of Khurasan.
ii) He attacks on Gujarat but Gujarat was a very powerful kingdom or place at the time because of sea trade in this area. The Chalukya king Bhim defeated Muhammad ghori.
iii) He gradually established his controlled on the Punjab which shares boundary to prithviraj Chauhan.
Qutb-ud-din Aibak
i) Qutb-ud-din Aibak was a slave of Muhammad Ghori took charge of administration in Delhi.
ii) After MuhammadGhori’s death He declared himself Sultan of Delhi.
iii) He started the construction of Qutub Minar.
Iltutmish:
i) Iltutmish was a slave and son – in – law of Qutb-ud-din Aibak. After death of Qutb-ud-din Aibak he became sultan of Delhi.
ii) He completed the construction of Qutub Minar.
iii) Iltutmish formed 40 loyal and deserving slave of high ranks.
Razia:
i) Razia was a daughter of Iltutmish.
ii) After death of Iltutmish Razia became the first women who ruled Delhi sultanate.
iii) She dressed like mans, ride horses and looks in administration affairs of state.
iv) Turk amirs who opposing Razia, murdered the razia.
Balban:
i) He was the one of the slave of 40 slaves of high ranks formed by Iltutmish.
ii) After death of Razia Balban was the Sultan of Delhi.
iii) Balban was an autocrat who believed the power of the sultan. He himself titled ‘shadow of god’ – His reflection on earth.
Kaikubad:
i) After death of Balban Kaikubad ruled over the Delhi sultanate.
ii) He ruled the Delhi only three years after slave dynasty end.
III.) Write short notes on:-
(a) Aktadars
ANS:
i) Iltutmish formed 40 royal slaves of high ranks.
ii) From these He made some of ‘Aktadars’ to administrate different parts of their empire.
iii) They collected revenue and from this revenue they made their salaries and administrate expenses.
(b) Slaves.
ANS:
i) In Iran and Turkey slaves serving as senior officers and generals.
ii) Traders buy different man trained them and sell them to sultans.
iii) Sultan gives work to slaves according to their capabilities. For that salaries are paid to the slaves.
iv) Some slaves succeeded their masters and ruled over that region.
(c) Amirs

i)After death of Iltutmish Razia became the first women who ruled Delhi sultanate.
ii) Turk amirs who opposing Razia, murdered the razia.
iii) When Balban became the sultan of Delhi, in that period Turk amirs had become very powerful and showed no respect for the sultan.
IV.) Answer the following questions in 50 to 100 words:
1.) Describe the war between Prithviraj Chauhan and Muhammad Ghori.
ANS:
i) Muhammad Ghori and Prithviraj first battle in Tarrain in 1191.
ii) Prithviraj was the victor of this battle.
iii) Next battle between Muhammad Ghori and Prithviraj in Tarrain in 1192.
iv) Muhammad Ghori was the victor of 2nd In this Prithviraj has large armies consisting of elephants But Muhammad Ghori has small army but it consist of swifter horses.
2.) What were the differences between the armies of the Rajputs and the Turks?
ANS:
i) The armies of Rajput consisting of infantrymen and many elephants and horses.
ii) The armies of Turks consisting of swifter horses and his cavalrymen were adept at shooting arrows while riding.
iii) The armies of Rajput large in number and armies of Turks are small in number.
iv) When Turk horseman attacking to the elephants of Rajput, Elephants are running backwards in this way Rajput army lose the battle.
3.) What were the main problems faced by the Turk sultans?
ANS:
The Turk sultan faced two main problems.
i) The first problem is their own officials. The official willing was not to work under Turk sultan.
ii) The 2nd problem is Defeated Rajput royal families. These families opposing Sultan.
4.) Why did the Turk amirs want to remove Razia from the throne of Delhi?
ANS:
i) Razia was the 1st women who ruled over Delhi sultanate. She was very popular empire in that period.
Ii) But the Turk amirs wanted someone on the throne to whom they dictate terms.
iii) Razia sets up a group of royal commanders and gave higher ranks to the Non Turk peoples.
For this reason Turk amirs want to remove Razia from the throne of Delhi.
