Answer: Tarun released his pent-up emotions by running until he felt tired. It made his exhausted.
2.) Whom did Tarun happen to meet in his state of depression? How did that person console him?
Answer: When Tarun was in the state of depression he happen to meet Ram Narayan, an Olympic Medalist in running . Ram Narayan motivated him by complimenting his talent . He advised him to never give up and told him that he could train him if he won in the race on the Children’s Day.
3.) ‘‘Have you joined some training school?’’, Ramnarayan asked Tarun. What was Tarun’s reaction to this question?
Answer: When Ram Narayan asked , Tarun replied him saying that he couldn’t afford going to training school so I didn’t join it.
4.) How did Tarun prepare himself for the race?
Answer:Tarun prepared gave his best in preparing for the race. He would get up at four in the early morning and run ten miles. In the evenings,he would time himself according to the 1000 metre distance prescribed by the competition.He trained himself and worked hard for five days.
5.) When did Tarun’s fear change into confidence?
Answer: All the participants had their family and friends to cheer them up and boost their confidence. But when Tarun saw his mother in the stands he became happy and his fear changed into confidence. It boosted him.
6.) If Tarun had not slipped a second time, what would have been his fate?
Answer: If Tarun had not slipped a second time he would have definitely won the race.
7.) Why was there a louder applause even when Tarun crossed the finishing line last?
Answer: Even though Tarun lost the race his determination was appreciated by the people. His never-give-up attitude made him star and a real hero. He faced the circumstances bravely.
8.) What would have been the reaction of Tarun’s father after the race?
Answer: Tarun’s determination made his mother happy. Tarun’s father who was considered as a black sheep of the family would have felt proud of his son.
